In 2017, the management of The Ankara Hotel requested a reorganization on the ground floor because the front reception of approximately 50m², and the main reception and the lounge, which are accessed by an elevator, are quite far away from the ground floor and open car park.
A lobby, lobby bar, lounge area, and special restaurant, which will be arranged on the ground floor and therefore also will be likely to connect to the main street and the open car park passing in front of the ground floor, were given as the goal to expand options that the hotel can offer to its customers and advance the visibility of the hotel.

We were encouraged to display independence from the interior design preferences of the upstairs restaurant. A nod to Van der Rohe's Barcelona pavilion, the material palette consisting of a travertine-glass-black metal trio, is incorporated with an open plan reflecting the spirit of the pavilion.

The special restaurant is separated from the bar by solely a uniquely produced glass separator and immobile seating. The entrance is diverged from the lounge area by the lobby bar made of metal with its intentionally contrasting lines to the whole design. However, the only area covered by the 2-story high domed ceiling that extends from the entrance to the wall of the kitchen at the end of the restaurant is separated by tangent lines in the plan.

Subsequent to the lobby design, when we were asked to design the suite rooms of the hotel, we decided to take the materials and color tones in the lobby to the suite rooms. On the ground floor, it was aimed to accomplish a comfortable environment with the different repetitions of the circular forms that display themselves in accessories and lighting in three different sizes for all kinds of elements such as flooring, furniture, and relief wooden headboard. The room has converged a warm and comfortable character with a strong three-dimensional effect having a dark copper color and dense texture on the parquet.
